UNN Graduate Breaks His Department’s Record as BGS With a 4.87 CGPA

A UNN Graduate Augustine Peter Kolawole has defiled all odds and achieved what seemed to be impossible to others due to his determination and hardwork.

He has set a record of excellence when he graduated with a first-class honours in business management from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) with a CGPA of 4.87.

He was from a state with less developed educational system, and he scored really poorly on the post-UTME exam. It was a difficult path to academic achievement for him.

In 2018, he applied to UNN after completing his ND at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic. Despite facing numerous obstacles, he overcame his first year’s CGPA of 4.84 out of 5.0, which inspired him to strive even more. He also shown determination, grace, and hard effort.

In his second year in school, although his courses were getting more difficult he maintained the same score. When he was in his final year, he learned that a former student of the school set the department’s record 62 years ago, with a CGPA of 4.85 he was then inspired to surpass the score.

He put in extra effort in his final year and studied like he never did, which led to him having all As in his final year result. He was able to achieve it because he believed in himself.

According to Augustine:

“I felt happy to be a graduate irrespective of my being the 4th best graduating student from UNN, I see First Class as a means to an end, not an end itself.

”My plans for the future: I would like to remain in academia and be passive in the industry.”
