Two pairs of eyes lock across the room, igniting the timeless dance of love. An instant recognition. A softening of gazes, the reddening of cheeks. One pair momentarily glances away, a sudden remembrance of modesty. The other pair continues to boldly stare, leaving no doubt of the owner’s audacious intentions.

In the idle moments of tomorrow, they will remember this encounter. It will linger in their thoughts as they go about their work. Fears may arise, threatening to strangle the butterflies of anticipation. Experiences and rumors may harden their hearts, tempting them to proclaim, “Never again!”

But Alfred said, “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” So why not, dear one, free yourself and embrace the exhilarating ride on the wings of love? Let friendships blossom, let joy and laughter abound, along with teasing and occasional anger. Let there be moments of playfulness and prayers shared. Let stories intertwine, creating a tapestry of shared experiences.

In all of this, remember that love should not hurt, nor should it bring ruin. So, as we play, my dear, let us respect what deserves respect. Let us refrain from touching that which should remain untouched. For it is through this understanding and boundary that we can forge an even stronger bond without wandering fingers.

And when the day draws to a close, my darling, let us go together to Mass and receive ashes. In this act, we celebrate the greatest union of love and mortality. Lock gazes with me once more, stare as if I might vanish the moment you blink. For it is indeed better to have loved and lost than to have never experienced love at all.
